Born into a Zoroastrian Parsi family in Hyderabad, India, and educated at The Doon School, Shayan Italia never quite fit the mould. Before she died, his mum left him with words that would go on to change his life forever: never be afraid to be different; never be afraid not to fit in. →

A Piano Left Behind
When Shayan was just a boy, he lost his mother to multiple myeloma, a devastating cancer of the bone marrow. A year later, he lost his father to multiple sclerosis. Before his mum passed away, she asked his father to buy him a piano. She never lived to hear him play it, but that instrument would go on to change his life. →
DISCOVERY
Music Became The Language
It was on that piano that Shayan began to write songs, finding a way to express what he could not say. Over time, his catalogue grew to more than 100 songs. →
COUNTRY
The Sound Of Reflection
Shayan performed the Indian National Anthem on the piano in his mother's memory. The performance was watched by over 100 million people. It honoured a mother and a country. →
RISE
A Symbol To Share
Shayan wanted to give the feeling music holds a form people could wear. Wear The Symbol grew from that idea, with The Overture as its first expression. →
